“For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written,’Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’” (1 Corinthians 1:26-30)

  Wave your hand if you are one of God’s chosen people! He chose the weak so that no one could boast in the Lord.” You may have been among the low and the foolish that God chose in order to shame the high and mighty and the wise but, because of Him, you are now in Christ Jesus and you have wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification. 

  What really stuck out to me when I was listening to this scripture recently is this phrase, “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus.” For some reason this phrase has especially comforted me. Because of God I am in Christ Jesus. So, if is not from any effort that I got there. And, its not from any effort that I stay there. Therefore, I can just be glad in God. Because of God I am in Christ Jesus. Someone came to me with good news, and because of God I believed, and because I believed God put me in Christ Jesus. 

  And so are all of you who have believed. So be encouraged and rest in that. Hebrews 4:9-10 says, “So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.” God is already pleased because of what Jesus has done. The sacrifice has already been made, so you no longer need to sacrifice anything to make God pleased with you.
